|Please read my account below and avoid this bank like the plague!
I have banked with First Federal for nearly 4 years now. At no time have I ever had a problem cashing my payroll checks whether I had enough to cover that check in my account or not. Friday 12/16/2014 I was denied my payroll check because I didn’t have that amount in my account. First federal has cashed checks from my current place of employment (St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church) for 6 months now without any trouble. The bank the check is written on is local too, not out-of-state. The teller at that time refused to cash the check, refused to deposit it and even made me say my social security number out loud with people nearby. She did not check my ID and she has served me before. [I wrote the bank on their online contact form–no reply.] Since there was a very overbearing security man lurking around I decided to wait and come back Monday 12/29/14. The supervisor said it has always been their policy to not cash covered checks but they can do it at their own discretion. [This is not written in my bank agreement nor was ever told to me for the almost 4 years I’ve been with First Federal.] This means I have just been decided to be an undesirable by the tellers and prejudiciously treated. It really irks me that I decided to stay with this bank even when they moved 20 minutes away because I liked the people and the service. They have turned extremely rude. I closed my account today because I had no other choice if I wanted my money. I demand a written apology and a black mark on their bank record. This is shameful. The women should be fired for their poor customer service. The first woman was also rude to an elderly man who was before me. I couldn’t believe it. I really don’t want to have a bank account anywhere now to be honest.
Bad bank! First Federal!
